V.G. Siddhartha

Veerappa Gangaiah Siddhartha was a Successful Indian Businessman from Karnataka who comes up with the idea of starting a coffee café chain of youth hangout parlors known as Café Coffee Day. He served as the chairman and the managing director of Mind tree and Way2wealth securities. He established his coffee trading company in 1993 in Karnataka, with a 6 crore turnover. He was the first entrepreneur from Karnataka to set up a café in 1996. As of 2020, the company had 1752 café outlets in over 240 cities of India. V.G Siddhartha was one of the top entrepreneurs of India 2021.

After his death in 2019, SV Ranganath has been appointed as the interim chairman and Malavika Hedge as CEO of Café coffee day Enterprises Ltd.

Kunal Shah

Kunal Shah, the MBA dropout has built a reputation after launching FreeCharge in 2010. It is a financial services company based in Gurugram, Haryana. These services are used for savings, payments, insurance, and lending. In 2011, Freecharge was named as the most promising startup from India by Pluggd.in. But, after few years in 2015, Snapdeal, an Indian e-commerce firm acquired Freecharge for Rs.2800 crore.

But Kunal Shah didn’t give up, he started an Indian Fintech Startup, nowadays popularly known as CRED which was founded in 2018 based in Bangalore. CRED’s main feature is to allow users to make credit card payments through the app and get rewarded for every payment they make through CRED. Later, CRED allowed users to pay house rental payments. CRED has 5.9 million users on board.

Deep Kalra

Deep Kalra is a successful Indian businessman born in Hyderabad and raised in New Delhi and Ahmedabad. He is the founder and CEO of the Indian Online Travel company which provides services including booking transportation tickets, holiday packages known as MakeMyTripheadquartered in Gurugram, Haryana.

He introduced MakeMyTrip in 2000 after realizing the advantages and the possibilities of the internet when he trying to sell his wife’s car through the internet. In September 2005, MakeMyTrip started Indian Operations, offering flight tickets online. Later on, the company was listed on the NASDAQ after its IPO.

Harsh Jain

Harsh Jain is one of the new Successful top entrepreneurs of India. He is the founder of an Indian fantasy sports platform known as Dream 11. This platform allows users to play fantasy cricket, football, basketball, hockey online.  In early 2012, Harsh introduced free fantasy sports in India with his co-founder Bhavit Sheth.

In 2014, the company registered 1 million users, which grew to 2.5 million in 2016, and later on in 2018, it jumped to 45 million. In April 2019, Dream11 became the first gaming company to become a Unicorn. Recently, Dream 11 has collaborated with the world’s largest cricket league IPL.

Khwaja Abdul Hamied

Dr. Khwaja Abdul Hamied was an Indian freedom fighter, a nationalist, and an anti-imperialist scientist who founded India’s oldest pharmaceutical company in 1935 called “CIPLA” headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He was one of the 90’s business entrepreneurs of India.

Cipla develops medicines to treat diabetes, respiratory, cardiovascular diseases, anti-depression medicines, and many other medicines.

After his death in 1972, his son Yusuf Hamied was appointed the head of the company to date. In 2019, Cipla has ranked the 42nd largest publicly traded company.

 Deepinder Goyal

Many of you may not know the fact that Zomato was founded as Foodie bay in the year 2008 by Deepinder Goyal and was renamed Zomato in 2010. Zomato is an online food ordering platform headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana. Earlier in 2010, Zomato was known as India’s largest restaurant guide controlling over 42,000 restaurants. The Deepinder Goyal story will be similar to other top entrepreneurs of India.

The idea to create an online food platform struck his mind when he saw people waiting in line for food. He created this online platform and connected to all restaurants and the rest is history.
